I am obsessed with everything about this ring from Elizabeth and James. From the moment I saw this fine accessory I knew I had to post it on this blog. The Olsen twins have done it again.
First, I love the geometric qualities of this ring. I’m a really big fan of clear lines and hard angles, and this ring has both. Second, fashion exists to make the person wearing it feel confident and comfortable with themselves, I think this accessory is a great example of that. Something about this ring says “I’m in charge” and I love that about it. I would wear this ring on a job interview for a little added strength.
There are some other truly stunning pieces the Elizabeth and James fall 2011 collection. I suggest you check them out!
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
It’s no secret that I
am obsessed with watch The Rachel Zoe Project and am an enormous fan of Rachel Zoe herself. (For those of you not in the know: 1) Shame on you and 2) Rachel Zoe is a celebrity stylist slash fashion know all (literally all) for celebs such as Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, etc. etc.) ie. She is fabulous.
And this fall we common folk can be fabulous too, because Rachel Zoe has come out with her first ready-to-wear line for the upcoming season. Get your credit cards out because I’m going to show you a few of my favorite pieces!
(Above) The double-breasted jacket in the middle is my absolute favorite piece in the collection. It’s edgy and streamlined, but still feminine. As for the two looks on the left, I would wear both of them to a New Year’s party in a heartbeat.
(Below) I love the preppy/retro cardigan right-center, and all of the layering in the flirty red party dress… and of course, all of the shoes.
Overall, I can’t find a single piece in this tailored, 1970s-inspired collection that I wouldn’t wear. With the pieces already selling in numerous places across the country, I imagine the collection will be an extraordinary success for her. I can’t wait to tune in to the newest season of The Rachel Zoe Project (starting September 6th – expect a post, of course) and see if there are any mentions of the collection’s production in the first episode.
Until then, I think we’d all agree, this collection…is…bananas.
I’m just a little in love with these boat shoes for fall. They’re definitely not the most feminine of shoes, but I think that makes them even more appealing and interesting. Imagine how cute they could look with the right sweater and a loose braid in your hair! Something about the boat shoe feels so classic and vintage to me. I plan on getting a pair ASAP.
And the best thing about the boat shoe? They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and prices. The ones featured above from the top are: Bass, $119; L.L. Bean Signature, $69; L.L. Bean, $49; Bass, $119.

For his Spring/Summer 2011 collection, fashion designer Jason Wu (you probably know him as the creator of this piece of fabulousness) included a retro reference that I am particularly fond of: the turban….
Jason Wu (s/s11)
Since, the contemporary version of the turban has taken off with celebrities and models alike. But let’s face it, not many of us can pull off what Kate Moss can on a daily basis. Therefore, let’s take a look at the more mainstream interpretations of this trend:
Here, Ashley Olsen rocks a black turban headband that is more day-to-day appropriate than a full turban. If you’re interested in the turban/headband you can find them online. A version of this black one Ashley is wearing can be found on Etsy for only $10. Can’t beat that.
Turbans like this one are also a great way to experiment with bold prints.
And don’t think that this trend is only for the summer months… they work to keep you looking chic (and feeling warm) even in the winter.
Basically they’re everything every girl looks for in a hair accessory: easy, fun, and super stylish.
If you’ve ever lived in DC, or any place like it, you know you’re going to have to deal with the rain. A lot. Especially in the summer. And in any place where streets flood quickly, and a thunderstorm is always just a few minutes away, a girl’s always got to be prepared!
When it comes to rain gear these Hunter boots are my absolute favorite. I love them in green because they work with every season and with almost any outfit. They’re a good combination of classic and cute.
Hunter boots can run a bit pricey though, so my second favorite (and more budget-conscious) choice are these boots by Sperry. (And if you’re looking for something for the winter months check these boots out, they have a fleece lining for extra warmth when it gets cold!)
While you’re at it, why not get a fabulous umbrella. The bubble umbrella can be found online or in stores. Urban Outfitters has one I especially like, but all of them help to prevent the hair frizzies and keep you looking oh-so-chic.
Just because it’s raining, doesn’t mean you can’t shine.
